Secondhand September

It's #secondhandseptember and so I thought I would kick the month off with a charity shop haul. Huge amounts of clothing end up landfill every year and the impact of the fashion industry on the environment lasts for a lot longer than we wear our clothes.

I popped out to my local charity shops to see what treasure lay in wait for me. Lots of people have been having clear outs and donating goods during lockdown. Some of my local shops had extra bargains on a £1 rail. It's a good time to be a thrifty princess!

I got this lovely M&S denim dress for £9.50, I really wanted a denim dress, something I could chuck on with leggings and a nice scarf. It's a great basic across seasons. I could wear it with sandals and some accessories in summer but also with a top underneath, I'm thinking stripes, and boots for colder days.

This cold shoulder top was only £2.75,I like this style for warm days when I want a bit more arm cover. Also the thicker straps mean I don't have to worry about my bra showing.

I love this shirt so much, I'm really into boho styles at the moment and the fringing on this is right up my current style street. It'll be great for wearing open as a light cover up in the changeable days between summer and autumn and it was only £4.99.

I am really into cotton at the moment, watching so many cottagecore tik toks has made me think about the basics that are lacking in my wardrobe so I picked up this dress for £5.00. It's a great staple cotton dress that I'll get a lot of wear out of.

I have a few of these thin cover up style tops and I use them constantly in the summer. I saw this one for £3.25 and had to get it. I love the pattern. In winter I tend to pack these away in my summer suitcase ready for holiday season again but this one might stay out for winter as the colours could really work with some of my darker skirts.

This is one of those items that I show people and they just cannot see it's potential. I adore the colours in this shirt and the florals which are always my vibe. Yes it is too large for me but tucked into a skirt and with the right accessories it is beautifully oversized. This was £3.25. I briefly thought about cutting the front open and creating another jacket from it but I've decided to leave it as it is.

So there are six items that might have ended up in landfill had it not been for the donations and wonderful charities that sell all this second hand treasure.

I'm looking forward to sharing lots of preloved outfits on my instagram this month.
